Choreographed for learning and fun
At IMDP, we offer a variety of dance classes to suit many ability levels. We do our best to make sure to provide an environment conducive to both fun and learning. To ensure proper growth and development in our programs — and to help prevent injury — directors and/or faculty members will evaluate each student and place them in the class level deemed appropriate to his/her age, ability, skill set, and/or experience.
COMBO AGE 3 & 4-5
This is the first step for young dancers. This class includes instruction in Ballet and Tap, or Jazz and Acro.
Ballet is the oldest and most noble form of dance — perhaps the most difficult, but the most beneficial for the body placement and the best foundation for any other dance form.
Jazz dancing improves coordination, musicality, body discipline and awareness. It will challenge each dancer to create their own "style." Popular music is used for this high-energy class.
Tap aids in creating and understanding rhythms while making music with your feet.
Hip hop appeals to students because of the pop music used in class, as well as the isolation moves. Breakdancing is incorporated into this class.
Lyrical dance utilizes the lyrics of the music to tell a story with movements including balance and control.*Ballet class required to participate in lyrical.
TUMBLING & ACROBATICS
Students will develop strength and flexibility through floor exercises and tumbling.
LEAPS & TURNS
Students will concentrate on leaping and turning technique in this conditioning class.
STRETCH & STRENGTH
Students will develop flexibility while building muscle strength and stamina in this conditioning class.

"A dance teacher helps students find the song in their heart, the beat in their feet and a passion for life."
THE IMDP COMPANY
Competitive Dance Program
In addition to the recreational dance program, In Motion Dance Project also has a competitive student dance company. The IMDP Company consists of dedicated dance students — with equally as dedicated parents — who are committed to furthering their dance education through the development and mastery of each discipline of dance, with greater emphasis on technique, skill and performance.
Each year a select group of dancers is invited to join for the In Motion Dance Project Company. Company members are accepted based upon audition and/or faculty recommendation. Acceptance into the IMDP Company is a year-long commitment, during which students must achieve good attendance, strive to both learn and master choreography, and to represent IMDP at regional and national competitions.
