General Information

Dress Code

Young Ladies must wear black leotard and pink tights for all Ballet Classes and Levels. You may wear any colored leotards with either tan or black tights for Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, & Acro.Tight fitting jazz pants, black shorts, or capris, may be worn in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, or Acro. Half tops may be worn only in jazz, lyrical, or hip-hop.

Baggy sweats or gym shorts, sneakers, hoodie, ball caps are permitted in Hip Hop only. Please no dance shorts, jazz shoes, dance paws, bare feet, or ballet shoes.

Dancer’s hair should be nice and neat. All levels must have their hair secured and back off the face for all classes, no exceptions. This will allow dancers to learn proper posture, spotting techniques for turns, and allow them to be free of the distractions of loose, untidy hair. All Ballet classes of all levels must have hair in a bun, and slicked back securely off the face.If a dancer is not prepared with the correct dance attire (leotard, tights, hair, & shoes) they will not be allowed to attend the class. Young Gents must wear a fitted white t-shirt and black shorts for all Ballet classes and Levels. Black jazz pants or shorts, with a solid color t-shirt may be worn for Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, & Acro classes. Footwear and Tights for dancers levels mini-sr classes can be purchased from Dancewear Corner (scroll down to FAQ's for their locations and website addresses). Dancewear Corner will have the list of shoes and tights our IMDP dancers need and will be able to assist you with all your dance wear needs.

Where can I buy leotards, tights, dance shoes , etc.?
Dancewear Corner will have everything you need! Not sure what brand/color/style of shoes to buy? DWC will also have a list of the items which IMDP's instructors prefer. DWC has 2 locations to serve you, plus a website for easy online ordering.

What are the "official" Company dance shoes?
Ballet: Bloch S0258 in ballet pink
Tap shoes: Capezio CG16 FlexMaster in caramel
Jazz shoes: Capezio CG16 in caramel
Character: Capezio 658
Dance Paws brand dance paws (foot undeez are fine for class if your dancer prefers)
Pedinis: Capezio Pedini PP323 in caramel

***Please note that each dancer will only need the shoes that are required for the competition numbers that your dancer will be competing in (ie: you don’t need pedinis or characters shoes unless you are told that you need pedinis or character shoes for one of your competition dances).
